Public Relations Experience

JERRY STURGILL FOR U.S. SENATE CAMPAIGN​

​

Interned with the Jerry Sturgill for U.S. Senate campaign and the Idaho Democratic Party during the 2016 election season. Created weekly media audits, assisted political directors on campaign fundraising events, designed social media posts for multiple platforms, and developed news releases later published in Idaho press outlets. Gained experience in how to manage campaigns, conduct political research, and learn public policy.

THE MARKHAM GROUP​

​

Interned with The Markham Group, a public affairs and event management company in Washington, D.C. Assisted project managers on more than 10 events, including the RNC & DNC party conventions. Organized press logistics, planned social media strategy, and fielded media requests on behalf of firm clients. Prepared and shipped event materials and performed research on grassroots projects. Daily use of Canva, Google Docs, Excel, Expensify, and FedEx Shipping.

HIRING OUR HEROES​

​

Served as Social Media Intern for Hiring Our Heroes, an initiative of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation. Planned the project’s social media calendar, designed graphics and informational materials for HOH websites, drafted and posted content on HOH Facebook/Twitter and “In Gear Career.” Created “Roadie of the Day” graphics for the KISS “Freedom to Rock” Tour and monthly military holiday recognition posts.

IDOWED:IDAHO WEDDING EVENT DIRECTORY​

Interned with IDoWED, an Idaho-based wedding event directory, as the public relations and social media intern. Took on lead role in researching, planning, and implementing original wedding event by the culmination of the internship. Updated IDoWED social media platforms weekly and created new blog content. Attended and assisted supervisor on local and regional events. Contacted and coordinated with vendors (caterers, bridal shops, venues, and photographers) and media for IDoWED events.

BATEMAN CASE STUDY COMPETITION

The Public Relations Student Society of America’s (PRSSA) national case study competition providing students the opportunity to apply classroom experience to creating and implementing a full public relations campaign. Selected as one of four members for the Boise State University team to work on the Campaign to Change Direction. Responsible for creating content intended for social media, events, and overall campaign outreach. Conducted grassroots research and events, planned campus wide initiative “Healthy Conversations”, and performed comprehensive evaluation of campaign success.

ELEVATE PUBLISHING

Interned with Elevate Publishing, a strategic publishing company empowering authors to share transformative ideas. In charge of all publicity outreach, including: compiling targeted media contact lists via Cision, creating press kits, drafting email pitches, and developing relationships with journalists, editors, publishers, etc. Maintained daily communication with authors to build their platforms and book launches. Responsible for Elevate social media updates, long and short lead book pitches, review follow-ups and creative direction of book campaigns.
